The Viento Sur Trombone Quartet, is an innovating group, in constant search of a powerful and original sound, that contains their own version of the repertoire for trombone quartet and the adaption of tangos and milongas that are a part of the musical and cultural roots of Argentina.
This group has promoted, an intense development of activity for the trombone and chamber music for the trombone quartet, which include recitals in numerous concert halls throughout the country, master classes at universities, conservatories, and musical schools, as well as the premiere of the principal original works for the trombone quartet and orchestra, together with several of the most renowned national symphonic organizations.

Their first CD, "From the South & Other Winds" is stamped with the fruits of many years labor and investigation in chamber music, and arrived at a landmark in history of the group having completed a project that has the power to demonstrate the expressive possibilities of the trombone, and the development of the enormous artistic potential that the trombone quartet has.

Since the beginning, around 1996, Viento Sur has been known for being a group with serious artistic ambitions and irrevocable work spirit, forging a sonority and expressiveness that separates them from other trombone ensembles.  It was essential to have the collaboration of the excellent trombonists that, at different times, have accompanied this project throughout the years and helped to mold it, until it became what it is today, the only brass ensemble in Argentina that works steadily and uninterrupted.

In September 2002, "Viento Sur", together with the Santa Fe Symphonic Orchestra, presented the Argentine premiere Jan Koestiers's "Concertino for Trombone Quartet and String Orchestra". A year later, the two groups again collaborated to perform the national premiere of "A Portrait", a composition by Dennis Armitage, based on melodies by George Gershwin, and in 2004, they premiered the "Concerto for Three Trombones, Strings & Percussion" by Derek Bourgeois.  In 2005, "Viento Sur" received critical acclaim as soloists with the symphonic orchestras of Cordoba and Rosario.  In 2006, they performed the national premiere of "Concerto Grosso" by Arcady Dubensky, again with the Santa Fe Symphonic Orchestra, and in 2007 presented the first national public performance of "And the greatest of these is...." The quartet has performed in many of Argentina's finest concert venues and has given lectures and master classes at numerous universities, conservatories, and music schools, in addition to being artists-in-residence at "Trombonanza", an annual international trombone festival in Santa Fe since 2001.
